Guest Blog: Year 6 Camp- Kieran

On Tuesday 21st of October, Dad drove me and two other Year 6's to camp at Shakespear Lodge. My group stayed behind and explored the beach. Heading back from the beach, we saw dolphins. We then went on a walk and stopped for morning tea by a pond with lots of eels in it. We went for a walk to Army Bay and had some lunch. We went for a walk through bush and paddocks to reach the lookout post to have afternoon tea. When we walked through the bush, we found a edible vine. It tasted like beans. When we got to camp, we ran to grab a cabin and considering we were the last group, it was surprising for me to get a top bunk. We had the dinner and supper. We went to bed at 9:30 and the pictures will explain the rest.

On the tramp to camp.

At Army Bay running around after lunch.

Me and my mate Brody at the waterfall.

The lookout post and afternoon tea time.

Lunchtime on the rocks.

Minty Moments. sharing something funny about the day.

Mountain Boarding on Wednesday. Don't fall off!

More mountain boarding. Me going a bit too fast.

Bouldering on the rock wall.

Archery on Thursday

Multisport Catapulting

Beach O'Clock aka Touch Rugby Time

And the stuff you missed
  1. On Tuesday, orienteering was first up. Back at camp after 62 mins.
  2. On Thursday, we did UHF radios and we played Sardines.
  3. After that, we did kayaking in the rain. Didn't matter, would have got wet anyway.
  4. Favourite Minty moment. Doug (a parent) had seagull poo land on his arm as he was about to eat his filled roll for lunch.
  5. Favourite Dinner: All of them. You can't compete with Pasta Bolognase, Nachos and Chicken Burgers

Hi Guest Blogger Kieran,

It's been great to read up about your time at camp. The first time I went to camp at Shakespeare was when I was eleven years old and I went during the school holidays with the YMCA - so it was pretty weird for me to be taking students up there for a camp over twenty years later!! There are lots of new activities since I was last there with a year 6 group, we didn't have mountain boarding or the tramping activity you did on the first day. Thanks for sharing your memories with me =)
